Wednesday Rumor Updates

Edmonton Oiler Zack Stortini has cleared waivers

Toronto Maple Leafs resign Mike Brown to 3 year extension
760k next season, 725k for 2012-13 / 2013-14
Brown signed to 3 year extension

Toronto continues to talk with both Los Angeles and Edmonton, The Leafs are trying to pry Brayden Schenn out of LA but with the recent news of Kaberle not willing to offer a list of teams, this could put an end to the deal.

The Edmonton Oilers have been in intense discussions with Toronto over Sheldon Souray, moving Souray and his contract would be a gift to the Oilers and the Leafs will get picks in return for taking on the salary.

Chris Phillips is close to being moved to the Boston Bruins, I am hearing a 2nd round pick is the starting point, Ottawa is pushing for a 1st.

More later on

  1. The Souray trade will have to be done in the off season, no way the oilers call up Souray this season and lose him on waivers and pay 1/2 his salary to another team, if they elect to do so..

  2. that would be a god send to rid Souray from the team, looks like the wheels are in motion, I guess the Leafs have money to burn

  3. Does he need to go through waivers to be traded though? I mean, he would obviously end up staying in the AHL anyways.
